Buxton worked Reese Olson for a leadoff walk to start the second inning then stole second base and raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI single by Ty France. He then plated a run with a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning and scored on Edouard Julien’s RBI double. Buxton also clobbered a 394-foot (108.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Beau Brieske in the seventh that pulled the Twins to within a run at 6-5. Even with the strong night though, he’s hitting just .178/.229/.356 with two homers, six RBI and three stolen bases on the season.

The move is now official. Lewis simply can’t catch a break from an injury standpoint. He’s been plagued by persistent physical issues since breaking into the majors back in 2022 and heads back to the injured list for the second time this season for a hamstring-related strain. The positive news is that he’s dealing with a relatively mild hamstring strain this time around, which doesn’t figure to require a lengthy absence.

Buxton told reporters after the game that he “didn’t feel good” but believes he avoided a long-term injury. The contusion occurred when he was plunked by a pitch, and while he stayed in the game initially, he was unable to continue. Buxton may get Sunday off, but should be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Mitchell and fellow rehabbing outfielder Blake Perkins (shin) have both been cleared to begin their rehab assignments. Mitchell has been sidelined since April 25 due to a strained oblique. Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy told reporters earlier in the week that he anticipates both of them returning to the roster at some point in early July barring any setbacks.
