Ryan gave up six hits, walked one and struck out eight. The 29-year-old right-hander gave up a solo home run to Taylor Walls in the third inning and an RBI single to Jonathan Aranda in the fourth inning, but was otherwise excellent against the Rays. Ryan has a 2.76 ERA and 116/21 K/BB ratio in 104 1/3 innings this season. He’s in line to face the Pirates at home next weekend.

Lee entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh and flew out then. He came up in the ninth with none out and runners on the corners and rolled one down the first base line for an easy game-winner. It went as a single, since the Rays let it go in the hopes that it would roll foul. This was Lee’s second straight game out of the starting lineup, even though he’s hitting .324/.352/.490 since the beginning of July. Royce Lewis’s return has complicated the Twins’ lineup, but it seems like there should still be room for Lee most days. It’s not like the rest of the offense is thriving.

There is a legitimate All-Star case to be made for Rafaela. The 24-year-old came into today 10th in the entire American League in WAR thanks to his elite defense in center field, to go along with, now, 11 home runs, 38 RBI, and 11 steals. Much like last year, Rafaela started slowly, but he’s slashing .281/.316/.501 in 58 games since May 1st with nine home runs, 33 runs scored, 23 RBI, and four steals. His defense will keep him in the lineup, but his bat is valuable in fantasy as well.

Doyle will sit out for the fourth time in the last five games as Colorado attempts to give him an extended mental break in an effort to let him clear his head and work on adjustments. The 27-year-old was one of last year’s biggest fantasy breakthrough’s, but he’s struggled this season to re-discover that form at the plate.

Thomas heads back to the shelf for the second time this season due to plantar fasciitis, which tends to be a challenging and often recurring issue for position players. The 29-year-old outfielder is unlikely to require a lengthy absence, but the only real way to put the issue to bed is rest and rehabilitation. There should be a clear return timetable at some point in the coming days.
