Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters Mitchell, who is headed for a second opinion on the initial diagnosis, will likely miss at least 8-10 weeks following the procedure. The 26-year-old outfielder dislodged some of the anchors from his previous left shoulder surgery back in 2023 while playing in a minor league rehab game on Friday for Triple-A Nashville.

Woodruff has been dealing with a laundry list of injuries of late and there’s seemingly no point in guessing when he’ll finally be ready to make his long-awaited season debut. The 32-year-old former fantasy ace will get back into minor league game action later this week after completing a 40-pitch bullpen session over the weekend. He might be ready to rejoin Milwaukee’s rotation in July. We’re not holding our breath.

Patrick was a very nice surprise for two months, but he’s given up 13 earned runs and four homers over 15 innings in his last three starts, taking his ERA from 2.84 to 3.72. The Brewers might think about trying something different soon, perhaps using Patrick in shorter outings alongside DL Hall or Aaron Ashby. That said, if they stay the course, Patrick will likely have a better outing at home against the Rockies on Sunday.

It’s an encouraging sign that Alvarez has resumed hitting after seemingly being stuck in a holding pattern waiting for a small fracture in his right hand. The 27-year-old fantasy stalwart has been on the injured list since early May and remains without an official return timetable. At this juncture, fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until some point in early July, barring any setbacks.

Rice has moved into a more versatile multi-position role since Giancarlo Stanton — who is on the bench to open Tuesday’s game — returned from the injured list earlier this month. The 26-year-old has spent time at DH, first base and catcher of late. He’ll continue to rotate between several spots while providing his usual blend of home runs and strikeouts.

Winker’s return will create a roster crunch for the Mets, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll make it back for at least another couple weeks based on his current timeline. The 31-year-old on-base machine has been out since early May recovering from a Grade 2 oblique strain.
