Getting to play your home games in Arizona and being faster than the overwhelming majority of players gives you a good chance to pile up the triples, and Carroll has done just that with 10 already before the All-Star break. The 24-year-old also doubled while improving his season slash to .250/.332/.563. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Carroll approached 20-plus three-baggers someday. It could even be 2025.

Arizona fans, and fantasy managers, can breathe a little easier after Marte was a late scratch from Monday’s series opener for precautionary reasons due to right groin tightness. The 31-year-old All-Star second baseman is back at the keystone and batting second on Tuesday night at Petco Park.

After Shelby Miller was placed on the injured list with a right forearm strain before Monday’s game, Ginkel was given the first save chance with Miller unavailable. It was far from picturesque as he threw just 5-of-11 pitches for strikes while walking a batter and striking out none, but the job was done. Ginkel will likely see the save chances for now, but he assuredly won’t have a long leash if he isn’t up to the task.

Gallen was outstanding, and it was nice to see him follow up his strong seven-inning, 10-strikeout effort against the Giants on Tuesday with another impressive effort. He now has an ERA of 0.47 in July, and while it’s over only two starts, it’s a marked improvement from the 6.23 mark he forged in June. Gallen was too talented to struggle for this long, and there’s a good chance the positive regression continues against the Angels on Saturday.

Hernández remains on the bench for the third straight contest as he continues to recover from left foot soreness. The 32-year-old slugging corner outfielder underwent precautionary imaging over the weekend that didn’t reveal any fractures. It’ll be Andy Pages continuing to patrol right field in his absence. There’s a chance he’s ready to return later this week, but we’re not anticipating the Dodgers taking any chances with the All-Star break looming.

Cora added that Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) will be at DH in his return from the injured list. It’s unclear how playing time will shake out for Jarren Duran, who has been at the epicenter of trade discussions recently, with Anthony transitioning to left field. It certainly feels like Boston is preparing to move on from Duran at the trade deadline based on their recent decisions and the sudden emergence of Ceddanne Rafaela as one of the better center fielders in the American League.

The 23-year-old Brito, who has already missed eight weeks this season with a torn thumb ligament, is hitting .256/.357/.463 in 24 games for Columbus. There’s a good chance he’d be the Guardians’ second baseman right now if he could have remained healthy since the start of the season.
