Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’re still waiting for the results of an MRI that Carroll underwent earlier in the day. He added that the “concern level” over the situation is higher than its been in recent days. The 24-year-old superstar is out of Monday’s lineup for the fifth-straight game due to a left hand contusion and won’t be available to pinch-hit. We’ll have updates on the developing situation as it unfolds. There should be something definitive following Monday’s series opener in Chicago.

McCann provides Arizona with a more experienced veteran backup while Gabriel Moreno is on the injured list recovering from a fractured finger. The 35-year-old veteran got into 65 games last year for the Orioles in a backup role and has appeared in 917 big-league contests since 2014. He’ll split the catching duties for the Diamondbacks with Jose Herrera for the next couple weeks.

The 33-year-old slugger smacked a one-out double off of David Peterson in the fourth inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Otto Kemp. He also added a run-scoring double off of Tyler Zuber in the seventh inning that increased the Phillies’ lead to 7-0. On the season, he’s now slashing .286/.327/.446 with eight homers and 41 RBI.
