Not good. The Diamondbacks are seeking multiple medical opinions after Carroll underwent an MRI and CT scan on Monday that revealed a chip fracture in his left wrist. There is no timetable for his return at the moment, but fantasy managers should prepare for an extended absence. It’s a devastating blow to Arizona’s offense as he’s been their primary top-of-the-order catalyst this season with 20 homers and 10 steals through 72 games. It’ll be Jake McCarthy coming up from Triple-A Reno to fill his roster spot, presumably to platoon with Randal Grichuk in right field.

Ugh. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Suárez has “a ton of swelling” in his right hand, which they’ll need to subside before he undergoes a precautionary MRI to rule out any structural damage. It’s possible he winds up avoiding a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him returning to Arizona’s lineup for at least a couple days.

Arizona is going to give Naylor some extra time off, likely out of an abundance of caution, after exiting Monday’s contest with right shoulder soreness. The fact that he was in Tuesday’s original lineup is an encouraging sign. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be a sizzling-hot Pavin Smith taking over for him at the hot corner.

Naylor hurt himself while taking a big cut last night, but he’s going to play through it for a team already missing Corbin Carroll, Eugenio Suárez and Gabriel Moreno.

It’s merely a procedural move to free up a spot on Houston’s 40-man roster. The 27-year-old outfielder has been out all season recovering from a left knee sprain and re-aggravated the issue a couple weeks ago during his minor league rehab assignment.

It’s notable that Barger is sitting out Tuesday’s series opener with lefty Logan Allen toeing the rubber for Cleveland after missing time over the weekend with right hip discomfort. It sounds like purely a matchup-related decision to go with Ernie Clement at first base, but it’s a situation fantasy managers should keep a close eye on.
