What a season it’s been for Suárez. The 33-year-old has now homered 29 times on the season, and the RBI gives him 75 before the All-Star Game; an event Suárez will be playing in next week. He’ll enter that event as a Diamondback barring something unforeseeable, but there’s a pretty decent chance he’ll be playing of a different team by the end of the month.

Perdomo turned a 2-0 game into a 6-0 lead with one swing of the bat. It was one of three homers that Arizona was able to hit in the game against Dylan Cease, and it was the 10th roundtripper of the year for Perdomo while bumping his RBI total to 64. Perdomo has shown flashes of fantasy brilliance in 2024, and there’s plenty of reason to think he’ll be a solid — if maybe unspectacular — option for the final 70-plus games.

Carroll hit one of four homers in the game for the D-backs in the ninth inning to give Arizona an 8-2 lead. The 24-year-old also struck out four times, and his .250 average is a little on the disappointing side. His 21 homers have definitely helped compensate for that ‘low’ average.

Pfaadt didn’t have his usual swing-and-miss stuff Wednesday, but it might have been a good thing. It allowed him to be as efficient has he’s been in a while, as he needed just 99 pitches to get through his eight frames while allowing four hits; one of those a solo homer by Gavin Sheets. The 26-year-old is now 9-6 on the season, albeit with an ERA of 5.16. His next start will come after the All-Star break against the Cardinals or Astros.

Whitcomb got the call to replace Jeremy Peña after Peña was placed on the injured list, but he’s heading back to the PCL with Christian Walker coming off the paternity list. Whitcomb will likely be back before the end of 2025 in a reserve role.

Lee had the day off on Wednesday while Willi Castro moved into the infield to play second base. Until there is a trade, this is likely going to be how things play out in Minnesota. They have too many bats for the amount of spots in the lineup, so players like Lee, Byron Buxton, Royce Lewis, and Ty France will all likely rest at least one game per week. Buxton is out of the lineup on Thursday.

The Atlanta offense was not fooled by Mitch Spence and his arsenal whatsoever, and Riley hit one of the five roundtrippers off Spence in the second inning with a runner on. The 28-year-old third baseman has gone deep 14 times in 2025 while driving in 47 runs over 91 games.
