He suffered the injury while making an outstanding diving grab in center field. Presumably he’ll head for X-rays to rule out any structural damage. Expect the Rangers to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.

Jung takes a seat for the second consecutive game as the Rangers attempt to give him an extended mental break in an effort to pull him out of an extended tailspin at the dish. The 27-year-old third baseman is hitting .172 (10-for-58) with zero homers and 19 strikeouts over his last 15 games. It’ll be Ezequiel Duran at the hot corner on Tuesday night in his absence.

It’s a bit puzzling to see the reigning American League Player of the Week taking a seat for Tuesday’s series opener with Evan Carter, who has been on a hot streak of his own, bumping up to the leadoff spot. The versatile 27-year-old has been on fire at the dish recently, hitting .356 (21-for-59) with three homers, eight RBI and three stolen bases over his last 15 games.

Duran got the scoring started in the ballgame as he roped a two-out RBI double into right field off of Aaron Civale in the third inning. The versatile 26-year-old also drew a walk in the sixth inning and doubled with two outs in the eighth, but the Rangers were unable to cash him in either time. He has struggled in his limited action overall with the Rangers this season, going 6-for-40 (.150) with zero homers, two RBI and a 13/1 K/BB ratio.
