Sanchez’ home run was his fourth of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Eric Orze in the fifth inning. The 32-year-old has transitioned into a backup backstop in the last few years and excelled in the role. He’s currently seeing regular at-bats with Adley Rutschman (oblique) on the injured list. That makes Sanchez relevant in two-catcher formats as long as he’s hitting like this.

Henderson’s home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a solo shot off position player Jose Caballero in the eighth inning with the game already well out of reach. Henderson isn’t having an incredible season after starting the year with a rib injury, but he’s still hitting .279 with a .797 OPS and 25 RBI on the year.

Sugano gave up nine hits, walked one and struck out two. It’s rare that a pitcher allows seven runs and still gets the win, but Sugano accomplished that feat as he was able to complete five innings as the Orioles piled on 22 runs against the Rays. Sugano has a 4.06 ERA and 52/18 K/BB ratio in 88 2/3 innings this year, but his 4.61 xFIP suggests he’s been fortunate. His 1.73 HR/9 is also concerning. Sugano is lined up to face the Rangers on the road next week.

Westburg missed three games earlier in the week due to the injury. He appeared to aggravate it while diving headfirst into second base on his first-inning double on Friday night. While he remained in the game after a visit from the training staff, he was ultimately removed the following inning. Expect him to undergo further evaluation to see if any additional damage was done this time around. Stay tuned.

Goodman has been an unexpected revelation this season for the Rockies, emerging as their primary offensive catalyst with a career-high 14 round-trippers through 76 games. The 25-year-old backstop is presumably day-to-day heading into the weekend. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him limited to DH duty for the next few days out of an abundance of caution.

Fulford doubled twice in the game; a two-run two-bagger in the sixth and another that brought in a run in the eighth. He’s hit .281 with a .500 slugging percentage, but he’s the clear backup backstop for the worst team in the sport. There’s no point in insulting anyone’s intelligence in regards to whether he’s worth a fantasy addition.

The 32-year-old backstop was designated for assignment earlier in the week after the team signed James McCann. He’ll continue to function as emergency catching depth for the D’Backs at the Triple-A level.
