Herrera has been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but there’s optimism he’ll be ready to make it back to St. Louis following next week’s All-Star break. The 25-year-old slugging backstop hit the injured list back in late June with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.

This was a 2-0 game until Jeffers, Willi Castro and Harrison Bader all homered off Porter Hodge in a six-run eighth inning. Jeffers came into this one 3-for-22 with no RBI in his previous nine games, but he’s batting a solid .246/.342/.400 overall. It’d be nice if the Twins didn’t have to DH him so often, but at least he’s producing while in the slot.

So, Sept. 1 at best. The Orioles hope to have Adley Rutschman back right upon the conclusion of the break or soon thereafter. They’re getting by with Jacob Stallings and Alex Jackson at catcher for now.
