Jameson Taillon was torched for five runs over four innings on Thursday in a loss to the Brewers.

Taillon was battered around for a whopping eight hits, including home runs by Rhys Hoskins and Caleb Durbin, as Milwaukee managed to chase him from the contest after just four frames. He finished with only two strikeouts and walked one batter in the abbreviated outing. It was the first time he failed to complete six frames since May 9. The 33-year-old veteran has been excellent this season with a 3.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 67/17 K/BB ratio across 86 2/3 innings (15 starts). He’ll aim to get back on track on Tuesday when he faces the division-rival Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Pete Crow-Armstrong crushed a two-run homer on Thursday in a loss to the Brewers.

Crow-Armstrong took Brewers ace Freddy Peralta deep in the opening frame for his 20th round-tripper of the year to become the first member of the 20-homer, 20-steal club this season. The 23-year-old breakout sensation has slowed down slightly bit in recent weeks, but he’s still hitting .275 (33-for-120) with nine big flies and 10 steals over his last 30 games. He’s the real deal.

Wednesday’s game between the Brewers and Cubs has been postponed due to inclement weather.

It’ll be made up on August 18 as a doubleheader. Wednesday’s original starters — Jacob Misiorowski and Jameson Taillon — will presumably take the ball on Thursday instead.

    Recap

Seiya Suzuki crushed a go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning on Tuesday night, powering the Cubs to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Suzuki turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage with one mighty swing of the bat in the fifth inning, crushing a 1-0 sinker from Chad Patrick for a 413-foot (102.8 mph EV) three-run shot. He struck out in each of his three other at-bats on the night, but that’s fine as he still was able to play the role of hero. On the season, the 30-year-old slugger is slashing a healthy .261/.317/.536 with 18 homers, 61 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
