Crow-Armstrong took Brewers ace Freddy Peralta deep in the opening frame for his 20th round-tripper of the year to become the first member of the 20-homer, 20-steal club this season. The 23-year-old breakout sensation has slowed down slightly bit in recent weeks, but he’s still hitting .275 (33-for-120) with nine big flies and 10 steals over his last 30 games. He’s the real deal.

Taillon was battered around for a whopping eight hits, including home runs by Rhys Hoskins and Caleb Durbin, as Milwaukee managed to chase him from the contest after just four frames. He finished with only two strikeouts and walked one batter in the abbreviated outing. It was the first time he failed to complete six frames since May 9. The 33-year-old veteran has been excellent this season with a 3.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 67/17 K/BB ratio across 86 2/3 innings (15 starts). He’ll aim to get back on track on Tuesday when he faces the division-rival Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

It’ll be made up on August 18 as a doubleheader. Wednesday’s original starters — Jacob Misiorowski and Jameson Taillon — will presumably take the ball on Thursday instead.

Suzuki turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage with one mighty swing of the bat in the fifth inning, crushing a 1-0 sinker from Chad Patrick for a 413-foot (102.8 mph EV) three-run shot. He struck out in each of his three other at-bats on the night, but that’s fine as he still was able to play the role of hero. On the season, the 30-year-old slugger is slashing a healthy .261/.317/.536 with 18 homers, 61 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

For the first time all season, Grisham had a sub-.800 OPS at the conclusion of Wednesday’s game. He’s back over that mark now, though, having collected his first homer since May 30 and his second since May 12. He’s likely in store for less playing time now that the Yankees have Giancarlo Stanton back, but the team will still want his glove in center field rather frequently.

Buxton hit his first homer to leadoff the game off Nick Martinez, and the 31-year-old took Martinez deep again an inning later. He’s up to 15 homers in 2025, and he’s gone deep in three consecutive contests. When Buxton is healthy, there are few players who match the talent. The question is not if he can keep this up, but if he can be on the field enough to do so. It’s a lot of fun to watch him right now, regardless.

The bad news is Straw will be out for another game after being removed Tuesday with his ankle injury. The good news is that Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that Straw’s injury isn’t likely to necessitate a trip to the injured list. He’ll take a seat with Jonatan Clase (knee) back in the lineup in center and Alan Roden playing left field.
