It’s been a trying few months for Cobb, who threw a bullpen session on Tuesday, as he continues to try to work his way back from issues in both hips. Hinch added that Cobb is still symptomatic and that his body is simply failing him right now. The 37-year-old veteran starter will be racing the clock to make it to Detroit before the end of the regular season. We’ve reached the point where he can’t really afford any additional setbacks.

The Tigers clawed back from an early 2-0 deficit in this one with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings — the second of which was on an RBI single by Keith. Then with two outs in the seventh inning, after Zach McKinstry had walked and swiped a base, the 23-year-old slugger swatted a 1-0 changeup from Edwin Uceta for a 394-foot (101.2 mph EV) game-changing two-run blast. Keith finished the night 2-for-3 plus a walk and is now slashing .269/.350/.450 with eight homers and 30 RBI on the season.

Torkelson finally got the Tigers on the board in the fourth inning of this one with a 366-foot (98.2 mph EV) line drive into the bullpen just over the wall in left-center. He also drew a pair of walks in the ballgame, finishing the night 1-for-2. On the season, the 25-year-old slugger is slashing .237/.339/.503 while his 21 long balls and 57 RBI pace all American League first basemen.

Arenado missed three games while dealing with a right shoulder impingement. There’s a chance he could see some maintenance games between now and the All-Star break, but for now, he’s feeling well enough to play and that’s obviously a positive development. Nolan Gorman gets a breather with Arenado back in the fold.

Bregman isn’t going to play in the All-Star game because of his quad injury, but there’s a chance we see him in a regular season bout before that break. The 31-year-old won’t be rushed back, but assuming there’s no setback, there’s reason to believe he’s back in the lineup (relatively) soon.
