Fortunately, X-rays came back negative for any fractures and the 27-year-old shortstop isn’t expected to miss any significant time. He’s considered day-to-day and could return to action as early as Saturday depending on how he feels after sleeping on it.

Javier is one of several injured hurlers for the Astros who will be throwing live bullpen sessions in the coming days. The 28-year-old isn’t a lock to pitch for Houston in 2025, but he could be a big boost for the club for the final couple of weeks — perhaps sooner — of the campaign.

Garcia will be joined by Cristian Javier in throwing live BPs at some point in the early portion of July. The hope is that Garcia will be able to help the Houston rotation at some point in August.

France is working his way back from the capsule tear in his right shoulder. He’ll need to make a few rehab starts before he can join the Houston rotation, but he could be an option not long after the All-Star break.

It’s encouraging that Neto was able to get in the box and take his swings at all on Saturday after being held out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive day due to a jammed shoulder. He’s tentatively expected to return to the Angels’ lineup on Saturday.

It sounds like the team plans to take a very cautious approach with their prized 22-year-old infielder and that he could wind up missing up to a month’s worth of action while recovering. Any fantasy managers that have been stashing him in redraft leagues in the hopes that he would be getting the call soon can safely cut bait.

The 25-year-old opened the season as the Tigers’ starting shortstop but since the return of Parker Meadows he has been phased out with Javier Baez drawing most of the starts at shortstop. Sweeney has slashed a disappointing .221/.280/.314 with just four homers, 23 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 225 plate appearances. He’ll see if he can get himself back on track in an everyday role at the Triple-A level.
