It was two runs through five, but Luzardo walked the first two batters of the sixth, leading to his removal. The runners then came around to score off Tanner Banks. It goes down as Luzardo’s third poor outing in four starts, but he wasn’t hit particularly hard in giving up a homer and five singles. His four walks led to three of the four runs. Luzardo is likely to make his next start Sunday against the Mets.

Hoffman had a 3.88 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 58 innings for Triple-A Norfolk in Baltimore’s organization last year. There was a chance for him to win a spot in Texas’ bullpen this year, but he instead headed to Triple-A Round Rock, where he has posted a 5.91 ERA. He should serve as organizational depth in Philadelphia

Turner has seven hits the last three days and is now the NL leader with 90 on the season. He’s also, at least for the moment, overtaken Francisco Lindor for second in OPS among NL shortstop at .832, putting him just behind Elly De La Cruz at .846. He’ll have an All-Star case, though there’s quite a crowd in the NL, with Mookie Betts also surely factoring into the mix.

Teams typically keep little punishments like this in house, so it’s interesting that Thomson is choosing to make a point of it. Castellanos had started all 162 games last year and all 72 games this season for the Phillies. Johan Rojas gets a start tonight with Castellanos absent.
