Westburg gave the Orioles their first lead of the game with a two-out, 413-foot two-run blast off of Brandon Waddell that made it a 3-2 ballgame in the third inning. The 26-year-old infielder also plated a run with a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning and came around to score on a ground ball off the bat of Ramon Laureano. He finished the afternoon 1-for-5 and is now hitting .248/.306/.484 with 10 homers, 20 RBI and one stolen base through his first 170 plate appearances on the season.

Mountcastle won’t come off the 60-day injured list until later this month, but he’s going to get back into game action next week as he continues to work his way back from a hamstring strain that put him on the shelf back in late May.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters Eflin will kick off his rehab assignment this weekend and continue throwing next week. There’s optimism he’ll be ready to return to Baltimore’s rotation in late July. The 31-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late June with lower back discomfort.

The 22-year-old infielder’s defensive versatility should help out in a bench role, but he doesn’t offer much offensive upside at this stage of his development. He can be safely ignored in shallow mixed leagues.
