Garver got the Mariners on the board and tied the game at one run apiece with an RBI single off of Jack Leiter in the sixth inning that plated Randy Arozarena. He then drove in Arozarena once again in the 10th inning with an RBI knock that extended the M’s advantage to 3-1. The 34-year-old backstop finally put the game out of reach with a 437-foot (108.7 mph EV) two-run shot off of Cole Winn in the 12th inning. With this three-hit attack, Garver is now slashing .227/.327/.352 with four homers and 20 RBI on the season.

Castillo punched out four opposing hitters on the day while issuing a pair of free passes. The 32-year-old right-hander allowed an RBI single to Josh Jung in the second inning, but that would be the extent of the damage done against him. He got 13 whiffs on 106 pitches on the day — nine of those on his fastball which averaged 95.3 mph — while posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll tote a 3.55 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 79/32 K/BB ratio into Friday’s tilt against the Pirates.

We figured McKinstry’s .627 OPS in May would be more representative of the rest of his season than his .888 mark from April, but he’s bounced back nicely this month, coming in at .938 so far. He also has seven steals after collecting only three over the first two months. His exit velocity numbers don’t entirely back up his success so far, but to date, he’s been one of the two best position players on one of baseball’s two best teams.

McKinstry’s stolen base was his ninth, but he was also caught stealing for the second time. His two-run triple was already his eighth of the season, and he also singled twice. The 30-year-old has been a solid contributor for the Tigers with a .277 average, 24 RBI and a .793 OPS over 73 games.
