Allen gave up eight hits despite not surrendering a ton of hard contact. The lone extra-base hit was a groundball double. Still, Allen needs to miss more bats if he’s going to avoid having nights like this from time to time. He fanned four tonight and has 54 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings on the season. He’ll make his next start Sunday against the Cardinals.

Both of his hits were RBI singles, though the latter would have been a double if it hadn’t been the game-ender. Ramírez is currently sixth in the majors with a .318 average, 13th an .894 OPS and eighth with 20 steals.

Williams generated only six whiffs and two strikeouts tonight. He walked three. Over his last six outings, he has an ugly 23/19 K/BB in 32 2/3 innings, though he does have three quality starts during the span. It’s just disappointing that he is, at best, the same pitcher now that he was when he entered the leagues in 2023. He’ll be a dangerous play in mixed leagues next week on the road against the Cubs and at home versus the Tigers.
