McLain jumped on a first-pitch slider from Marlins’ right-hander Eury Pérez for a 354-foot (96.4 mph EV) solo shot that gave the Reds an early 1-0 lead. That would be the extent of their scoring in the ballgame until they scratched out another with two outs in the ninth. It was also McLain’s only hit as he finished the evening 1-for-4. On the season, he’s now hitting .203/.291/.336 to go along with 10 homers, 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

The 34-year-old right-hander also walked three batters during the unfortunate evening while striking out a pair. After keeping the Marlins off the board for the first two innings, the flood gates opened as the Marlins scored seven times to take a commanding lead. He then returned to work two more scoreless innings before loading the bases with no outs to open the sixth inning. Martinez then gave way to the bullpen and all three inherited runners ultimately scored. He got just three swings and misses on 85 pitches on the night while posting an uninspiring CSW of only 20 percent. He’ll look to finish the first half on a high note when he carries a 4.85 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 73/24 K/BB ratio (105 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s battle against the Rockies.

It’s a deserving selection for Abbott, who will head to the Midsummer Classic for the first time in his career, after posting a sparkling 2.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 78/22 K/BB ratio across 83 2/3 innings (15 starts). The 26-year-old southpaw is replacing Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will not pitch in the game itself after starting Sunday’s first-half finale against the Giants.

It’s an extremely encouraging sign that Greene is throwing after undergoing additional testing earlier this week after experiencing renewed groin discomfort. The hard-throwing 25-year-old fantasy ace was scheduled to make a minor league rehab start this week, but that’s no longer happening. There should be some clarity on his status at some point soon, but fantasy managers should view it as a positive development that he’s throwing again without an extended shutdown.

Edman missed three consecutive games with the hairline fracture in his right pinkie toe, but he’s feeling well enough to get the nod for Wednesday’s bout with the Brewers. Don’t be surprised if Edman gets some more maintenance days during the summer months.

The Tigers clawed back from an early 2-0 deficit in this one with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings — the second of which was on an RBI single by Keith. Then with two outs in the seventh inning, after Zach McKinstry had walked and swiped a base, the 23-year-old slugger swatted a 1-0 changeup from Edwin Uceta for a 394-foot (101.2 mph EV) game-changing two-run blast. Keith finished the night 2-for-3 plus a walk and is now slashing .269/.350/.450 with eight homers and 30 RBI on the season.
