McLain only recently eclipsed a .200 batting average for the season. The 25-year-old second baseman has produced adequate numbers in the counting categories, but been a major drag on fantasy managers’ batting average. McLain has picked things up a bit in June as he’s hitting .269 this month, but the damage he did earlier this season is already done.

Abbott gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. The 26-year-old left-hander continues to enjoy a career-year with a 1.79 ERA. While Abbott has 76 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings, his xFIP is 4.06 due to a low .241 BABIP and high 88 percent left on base percentage. Abbott will look to continue to avoid obvious regression against the Phillies on the road next weekend.

Rece Hinds will start in his place in right field and bat seventh for the Reds against Randy Vasquez and the Padres on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati.
