Marte hit the shelf back in early May with a Grade 2 left oblique strain and has finally progressed to getting back into game action. The 23-year-old showed some real promise with the Reds prior to getting hurt, which makes him intriguing in deeper mixed leagues. He’ll likely rejoin Cincinnati’s infield mix before the end of June or early July.

Martinez has been utilized in relief during previous years, so the move doesn’t come as a total shock. The 34-year-old veteran was lit up for seven runs over 2 2/3 innings on Thursday in an abbreviated outing against the Twins. It doesn’t sound like the Reds are making a swap in their rotation, but it’s a situation to monitor.

Petty is an illustrative example of the significant gap between Triple-A and the big leagues at the moment as he’s consistently dominated on the doorstep of the majors with a 2.76 ERA and 26.9 percent strikeout rate this season, while getting absolutely torched in a pair of spot starts for the Reds. The talent is there to succeed, but he’s not a recommended option for fantasy purposes when he makes a bulk relief appearance on Saturday against the division-rival Cardinals.
