Jones is starting to get a little something going, having collected eight hits and six RBI in his last four games. He didn’t even start the first of those, only entering after Steven Kwan got hurt. The surge has lifted his OPS from .536 to .607 and should ensure that he remains in the lineup against righties for now.

Noel had played 26 games at first base in the minor leagues last year, but has been used almost exclusively in the outfield or at DH in the majors. The 260 pound Noel was optioned to Triple-A at the beginning of the month after hitting .146/.168/.223 with two homers and nine RBI in 107 plate appearances for the Guardians, so there is certainly more to work on for him than defense. However, with Chase DeLauter nearing his MLB debut and C.J. Kayfus now working out in the outfield, Noel’s best shot at MLB at-bats may be as a short side platoon with Kyle Manzardo at first base.

The oft-injured 23-year-old is now slashing .312/.438/.519 in 22 games at Triple-A with three home runs, 13 RBI and an impressive 11/18 K/BB ratio. The biggest concern for DeLauter has always been staying on the field, but if he continues to perform like this, the Guardians will have to give him a shot at the big league level over the summer.

With Brice Turang struggling, Frelick was elevated to the leadoff spot tonight, even though Frelick himself was hitting just .206/.270/.294 in 40 plate appearances this month. Frelick came through nicely, though, busting things open in what turned into a five-run fifth inning for the Brewers. Frelick is batting .292/.355/.394 on the season, and he’s a better option in mixed leagues while hitting in the leadoff spot.

Frelick cranked a 357-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Hunter Greene in the fourth inning, increasing the Brewers’ early lead to 2-0. That would wind up being the extent of their offense in the ballgame though. It was also Frelick’s lone hit in four at-bats. On the season, the 25-year-old outfielder is now hitting .295/.357/.410 with four homers, 21 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
