Frelick cranked a 357-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Hunter Greene in the fourth inning, increasing the Brewers’ early lead to 2-0. That would wind up being the extent of their offense in the ballgame though. It was also Frelick’s lone hit in four at-bats. On the season, the 25-year-old outfielder is now hitting .295/.357/.410 with four homers, 21 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

That’s not terrible, but we don’t like the trend: Misiorowski has gone from allowing no hits in his debut to one last time out and two today. It’ll be panic time if he gives up three next week. In all seriousness, Misiorowski was again dominant, with the eight strikeouts topping his previous high by two. He was also quite efficient; because he was on four days’ rest, the Brewers had him on a pitch count today, making it questionable whether he’d be able to get through five. Fortunately, he needed only 74 pitches to do so. Misiorowski topped out at 102.4 mph and averaged 99.7 mph with his fastball. 10 of his 13 whiffs came on his 47 heaters. The Brewers are off tomorrow and Monday, so Misiorowski will have some extra rest before his next start, which will probably come Wednesday against the Mets.

Back hacking away, Chourio saw just eight pitches in this one. After a nice game with two doubles and three walks in the 17-6 rout of the Twins on Friday, Chourio has gone 2-for-21 with no extra-base hits or RBI and one walk in his last five games. He has a 72/14 K/BB in 360 plate appearances, leaving him with a .283 OBP in spite of a decent .254 average.

Jones had been relegated to a strong-side platoon earlier in the season, but he has now started back-to-back games against left-handed starting pitchers and five of the last seven. Over his last 23 games, Jones is hitting .300 with 10 RBI, four runs scored and a 13/1 K/BB ratio. While the batting average is nice, and the playing time is there, it would be good to see a bit more power out of Jones before we start to think about rostering him in most fantasy leagues.

Jones is starting to get a little something going, having collected eight hits and six RBI in his last four games. He didn’t even start the first of those, only entering after Steven Kwan got hurt. The surge has lifted his OPS from .536 to .607 and should ensure that he remains in the lineup against righties for now.

It’s the first three-hit game of the year for Jones, who has lacked much in the way of luck this season. He came into the day hitting .175 in spite of possessing the best hard-hit rate and lowest strikeout rate of his career. He’s been a part-timer of late, but he would be looking at a larger role if Kwan requires an IL stint.
