MLB.com’s Jake Rill adds that Tromp is the 23rd Orioles player to hit the injured list this season. He’s also the third catcher Baltimore has lost due to injury in the past two weeks alone. It’ll be veteran journeyman Jacob Stallings, not top prospect Samuel Basallo, coming up to take his spot on the club’s active roster. The 30-year-old suffered the injury during Monday’s series opener against the Rangers and figures to miss a couple weeks.

That timetable doesn’t leave much time at all for Mateo to make it back this season. There’s a chance he’s ready to return in late August, but that would be a best-case scenario without any setbacks. The versatile 30-year-old suffered the injury last weekend while playing in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk.
