It doesn’t seem like a good sign that the Tigers had fellow left-handed hitter Colt Keith hit in Meadows’ place against a right-hander, but it’s understandable, given that Meadows is just 6-for-42 since coming off the injured list. The good news is that Meadows’ exit velocity numbers are actually better than usual; he came into the day a 92.3 mph average exit velocity, a .262 xBA and a .499 xSLG. His defense will help keep him in the lineup until his luck changes on offense.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Vest was immediately lifted from Sunday’s contest when he experienced something in his pinky finger after uncorking a wild pitch. He added that the 30-year-old righty will undergo a battery of tests to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates. It’s unclear whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list yet. Any sort of extended absence would likely result in Tommy Kahnle taking over the ninth-inning duties for Detroit.

Torres went hitless on Saturday, but sandwiched that game with two excellent offensive performances against the Reds. The 28-year-old second baseman hit two home runs on Friday and had a three-hit game on Sunday. Torres has been quite an addition to the Tigers lineup this year. He’s hitting .276 with a .796 OPS and 34 RBI on the year.

Gipson-Long gave up three hits, walked one and struck out two. The 27-year-old right-hander entered the game in the second inning after the Tigers used reliever Tyler Holton as an opener. This was Gipson-Long’s third appearance for the Tigers this year and second with an opener. The Tigers actually used two openers in front of Gipson-Long against the Orioles earlier this week. The openers appear to be part of a plan not to overextend Gipson-Long, who is returning from Tommy John surgery, but are also beneficial for his fantasy value. He’s set to make his next appearance against the Rays on the road next weekend.

As a team, the Guardians were only able to muster four hits (all singles) and one walk against Emerson Hancock and company. Thomas was the only member of the Guardians to reach base twice — with a two-out single off of Hancock in the second and a one-out walk off of the right-hander in the fifth inning. The 29-year-old outfielder has been swinging a hot bat since returning from the injured list and makes for an intriguing addition in deeper mixed leagues where he may still be available.

Buxton was in Sunday’s original lineup after suffering a left elbow contusion when he was hit by a pitch during Saturday’s game. It sounds like a precautionary decision to give him some extra rest. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Carter talked his way into Sunday’s lineup after showing up to the ballpark feeling ready to go. The 22-year-old has been dealing with some left wrist discomfort since Friday’s game. It’ll be Alejandro Osuna heading to the bench.
