    Gleyber Torres

    DET โ€ข 2B โ€ข #

Gleyber Torres went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, a double and an RBI against the Reds on Sunday.

Torres went hitless on Saturday, but sandwiched that game with two excellent offensive performances against the Reds. The 28-year-old second baseman hit two home runs on Friday and had a three-hit game on Sunday. Torres has been quite an addition to the Tigers lineup this year. Heโ€™s hitting .276 with a .796 OPS and 34 RBI on the year.

    Injury

Will Vest will undergo further evaluation and testing after being removed from Sundayโ€™s relief appearance against the Reds with a right pinky finger issue.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Vest was immediately lifted from Sundayโ€™s contest when he experienced something in his pinky finger after uncorking a wild pitch. He added that the 30-year-old righty will undergo a battery of tests to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status ahead of Tuesdayโ€™s series opener against the Pirates. Itโ€™s unclear whether heโ€™ll require a trip to the injured list yet. Any sort of extended absence would likely result in Tommy Kahnle taking over the ninth-inning duties for Detroit.

    Parker Meadows

    DET โ€ข CF

    Recap

Parker Meadows was 0-for-3 before being lifted for a pinch-hitter Sunday against the Reds.

It doesnโ€™t seem like a good sign that the Tigers had fellow left-handed hitter Colt Keith hit in Meadowsโ€™ place against a right-hander, but itโ€™s understandable, given that Meadows is just 6-for-42 since coming off the injured list. The good news is that Meadowsโ€™ exit velocity numbers are actually better than usual; he came into the day a 92.3 mph average exit velocity, a .262 xBA and a .499 xSLG. His defense will help keep him in the lineup until his luck changes on offense.

    Sawyer Gipson-Long

    Recap

Sawyer Gipson-Long allowed one run in three innings and got a no-decision against the Reds on Sunday.

Gipson-Long gave up three hits, walked one and struck out two. The 27-year-old right-hander entered the game in the second inning after the Tigers used reliever Tyler Holton as an opener. This was Gipson-Longโ€™s third appearance for the Tigers this year and second with an opener. The Tigers actually used two openers in front of Gipson-Long against the Orioles earlier this week. The openers appear to be part of a plan not to overextend Gipson-Long, who is returning from Tommy John surgery, but are also beneficial for his fantasy value. Heโ€™s set to make his next appearance against the Rays on the road next weekend.

Marcus Semien went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Rangers eked out a one-run victory over the visiting White Sox.

Semien drove in a run with a sacrifice fly off of Aaron Civale in the fifth inning that would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. He also doubled with two outs in the seventh inning but was left stranded there. He has picked up the pace offensively in recent weeks, but is still slashing a miserable .224/.305/.336 overall on the season with seven homers, 30 RBI and six stolen bases.

Matt McLain went 2-for-5 with two runs scored against the Tigers on Sunday.

Batting in the No. 2 spot in the order Sunday, McClain managed two hits and two runs scored in the win over the Tigers. The 25-year-old second baseman is still hitting just .191 on the season, but appears to be making some positive strides at the plate so far in June. Reclaiming a regular spot in the top third of the batting order would go a long way for his fantasy value over the rest of the season.
