Torres took J.T. Ginn deep with a runner on the seventh inning to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead and gave Torres his eighth homer of the 2025 campaign. He also drew a walk, and in his first season with Detroit, he’s now slashing .281/.386/.430. You can do a heck of a lot worse.

Zach McKinstry tripled in two runs while going 3-for-4 with a stolen base in a win for the Tigers on Thursday over the Athletics.

McKinstry’s stolen base was his ninth, but he was also caught stealing for the second time. His two-run triple was already his eighth of the season, and he also singled twice. The 30-year-old has been a solid contributor for the Tigers with a .277 average, 24 RBI and a .793 OPS over 73 games.

Lane Thomas went 2-for-4 with a homer Wednesday in the win over the Blue Jays.

Thomas had some big swings tonight, with his homer leaving the bat at 109.5 mph and his single close behind at 108.8 mph. He’s homered in back-to-back games after hitting just one in his first 29 appearances.

Jo Adell went 2-for-4 and hit his 17th homer Wednesday in the win over the Red Sox.

Adell has hit in eight straight games, though he had exactly one hit in each of the first seven of those. Of his 17 homers, 11 have come in his last 24 games. The Angels seem to be taking some notice, too; Adell batted fifth today after hitting no higher than sixth previously this year.

Oneil Cruz went 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the Pirates’ No. 5 hitter against the Brewers on Wednesday.

There were indications last night that Cruz might not play today after being pulled for forgetting how many outs there were last night, but while he did start, he was dropped in the lineup. He finished the day without a hard-hit ball, though he did reach on an Isaac Collins error on a fly to left. It could have been ruled a double, but not today.
