The 29-year-old left-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. He was locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel until the eighth inning where he surrendered a one-out solo homer to Cooper Hummel that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Suárez got nine swings and misses on 101 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll bring an impeccable 2.08 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 59/16 K/BB ratio (65 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Braves in Atlanta.

In the first inning, Wheeler allowed a run on an infield single to Isaac Paredes. The Astros wouldn’t score again, but it was enough for Wheeler to pick up a loss. Seems like baseball may be an unfair sport sometimes. Wheeler did walk three and gave up four hits, but he was certainly good enough for a win. The offense behind him was not. He’ll take a 2.55 ERA into his first start of July; scheduled for Tuesday against the Padres.

The Phillies are hoping to have Harper take on-field batting practice ahead of Friday’s series opener in Atlanta before making a determination on when he’ll be activated from the injured list. The 32-year-old fantasy star has been out since early June recovering from wrist inflammation. It sounds theoretically possible he’s back at some point later this week.
