The Phillies are hoping to have Harper take on-field batting practice ahead of Friday’s series opener in Atlanta before making a determination on when he’ll be activated from the injured list. The 32-year-old fantasy star has been out since early June recovering from wrist inflammation. It sounds theoretically possible he’s back at some point later this week.

Kepler finds himself on the bench as Philadelphia faces a left-handed starting pitcher for the third consecutive game. The streak comes to an end on Thursday when Astros ace Hunter Brown draws the starting assignment. It’ll be rookie Otto Kemp in left field once again to open Wednesday night’s contest.

Sosa singled off of Valdez in the second inning, but the Phillies ultimately couldn’t cash him in from second base. He then smacked a one-out double in the fourth inning but was cut down attempting to score on a ground ball to third baseman Isaac Paredes. With his two-hit effort, the 29-year-old infielder is slashing a solid .290/.336/.411 with two home runs and 16 RBI on the season.

The 29-year-old left-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. He was locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel until the eighth inning where he surrendered a one-out solo homer to Cooper Hummel that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Suárez got nine swings and misses on 101 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll bring an impeccable 2.08 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 59/16 K/BB ratio (65 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Braves in Atlanta.

The 26-year-old first baseman is 10-for-33 (.303) with three homers and three doubles since he was recalled from Triple-A on June 16.

He’s made a big charge over the last month, hitting .308 with eight homers, 14 doubles and 31 RBI in his last 34 games to raise his OPS from .720 to .844, and he has a good case for the third All-Star appearance of his career next month.
