Toglia put the first run of the game on the board with a double in the first inning to bring Hunter Goodman home from first base. He drove in a second run with another double in the third and doubled again in the fifth for his third of the game. The 26-year-old first baseman is 10-for-33 (.303) with three homers and three doubles since he was recalled from Triple-A on June 16.

Marquez got through three scoreless innings before unraveling in the fourth. After the leadoff man reached on an error, the Dodgers brought six runs in to score, including three on a home run by Michael Conforto. Márquez appeared to roll his ankle on a play but remained in to finish the inning. He was replaced in the fifth by Ryan Rolison at 68 pitches. The 30-year-old right-hander has posted a 6.26 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and a 56/24 K/BB ratio across 77 2/3 innings. Assuming he’s good to go for his next start, he’ll take on the Brewers in Milwaukee on Sunday.

Moniak’s home run was his 11th of the year. The 27-year-old outfielder crushed a three-run home run off Brandon Pfaadt in the fifth inning. Moniak has hit four home runs in his last six games. With 10 of his 11 home runs this year coming against right-handed pitching, he could be a trade target prior to the deadline and excel in a platoon role on a contender.

The Braves scored all of their runs between the sixth and eighth innings tonight, with Olson driving in runs in both frames. He’s made a big charge over the last month, hitting .308 with eight homers, 14 doubles and 31 RBI in his last 34 games to raise his OPS from .720 to .844, and he has a good case for the third All-Star appearance of his career next month.

It looked like this one would go to the Bombers before Encarnacion-Strand suddenly tied things up with a bases-loaded double in the seventh. The Reds made room for both CES and Santiago Espinal tonight by giving Spencer Steer just his fifth start in the outfield this season, but that’s probably not going to turn into a regular thing with Austin Hays set to return soon. The start tonight was Encarnacion-Strand’s second in five games.

Goldschmidt had sat against four of the previous seven righties the Yankees had faced, so it was a little surprising to see him get the nod against flamethrower Chase Burns tonight. It didn’t wind up working out, though we don’t know that Giancarlo Stanton would have fared any better had he been in there. Goldschmidt is now batting .244/.287/.330 against righties, compared to .408/.494/.711 against lefties.
