Marquez got through three scoreless innings before unraveling in the fourth. After the leadoff man reached on an error, the Dodgers brought six runs in to score, including three on a home run by Michael Conforto. Márquez appeared to roll his ankle on a play but remained in to finish the inning. He was replaced in the fifth by Ryan Rolison at 68 pitches. The 30-year-old right-hander has posted a 6.26 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and a 56/24 K/BB ratio across 77 2/3 innings. Assuming he’s good to go for his next start, he’ll take on the Brewers in Milwaukee on Sunday.

Moniak’s home run was his 11th of the year. The 27-year-old outfielder crushed a three-run home run off Brandon Pfaadt in the fifth inning. Moniak has hit four home runs in his last six games. With 10 of his 11 home runs this year coming against right-handed pitching, he could be a trade target prior to the deadline and excel in a platoon role on a contender.

Vargas fractured his feet on Tuesday night when he was hit by a pitch. We don’t yet have a timeline for his recovery, but given that it’s already almost July, it might be hard for Vargas to heal and return to the Diamondbacks roster before the end of the season. Blaze Alexander will take over his role as a reserve infielder.
