Pillar has been removed from Texas’ 40-man roster to clear a spot for prospect Alejandro Osuna. The 36-year-old veteran figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and will likely wind up electing free agency.

Smith has been limited to DHing in three games since returning from a mild hamstring injury, and given that it seems he’s not 100 percent, the Rangers might as well sit him against a lefty. It was a poorly timed injury for Smith, given that he had really heated up and collected 13 hits in the seven games before he got hurt.

Dunning had a 4.47 ERA in 46 1/3 innings as a starter for Round Rock. It looks like he could make a spot start Tuesday against the Orioles, assuming that he’s not needed in relief tonight (and he probably won’t be, given that the Rangers used only one reliever Sunday and just sent him down to make room for Dunning).

The 29-year-old infielder broke the game open with a majestic 430-foot (109.4 mph EV) three-run shot against Mets starter David Peterson in the fifth inning that extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-0 at the time. Sosa also singled in the third inning but was picked off of second base, Sosa is now hitting a healthy .279/.321/.394 with a pair of homers and 16 RBI in 113 plate appearances.

The 29-year-old infielder smacked a run-scoring single off of Michael Petersen in the eighth inning that pulled the Phillies to within six runs at 8-2. That would be as close as they would get. He has been swinging an extremely hot bat for the Phillies this season, slashing .324/.370/.432 with one homer, 13 RBI and zero stolen bases through his first 82 plate appearances.

Sosa punctuated the scoring for the Phillies with a two-run homer off Scott Alexander in the ninth, and it gave Philadelphia a 9-3 lead over the lowly Rockies. It’s the first homer of the season for the 29-year-old, but it’s worth noting that he’s only had 57 at-bats in 2025. Sosa should continue to see a decent amount of playing time for the Phillies, but a .386/.419/.526 slash could see his time in the lineup increase rapidly.
