Acuña set the tone for this game when he ambushed the first pitch he saw from Paul Blackburn and sent it way back over the fence in straightaway center field. Since his season debut on May 23rd, no one in baseball has a higher batting average (.390), on-base percentage (.495), or slugging percentage (.720). It’s safe to say he’s back.

Sale clearly had plenty in the tank pitching on eight days’ rest and made the Mets feel his wrath. They hit dribbler after dribbler and didn’t put a single runner into scoring position after the first inning. Sale had no fear attacking them with fastballs in the zone which set up dozens of devastating sliders darting low. It was pure domination. The only reason he wasn’t able to finish the complete game shutout is because Brandon Nimmo hit a flare over Austin Riley’s head with two outs in the ninth inning and manager Brian Snitker didn’t want to push Sale when he’d already amassed a season-high 116 pitches. He hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a single start since April 13th and has reclaimed his throne as one of the league’s best. If the Braves keep him on regular rest, he’s lined up for a two-start week against the Mets, again, and Phillies.

The Braves are currently 12 games back in the NL East and seven games out of a Wild Card spot, so they face a real uphill climb to get back into the postseason race. If they don’t make up enough ground by the deadline, Feinsand believes Ozuna will be the most attractive rental for Atlanta. However, we also know he’s playing through a tear in his hip, so it’s unclear what kind of return he would net. Feinsand lists the Guardians, Rangers and Tigers as potential trade destinations.

Profar is somehow able to use the minor leagues to prepare for his MLB return despite being suspended for breaking MLB rules. He played the entire game in left field and should be a lock to be activated from the suspension list when he’s eligible on July 2.

Cook is up with Bryan Reynolds on the Paternity List, and he’s also right into the starting lineup. He could likely be sent back down when Reynolds returns later this week, so he’s not worth chasing in fantasy leagues right now.

The Pirates decided not to throw Paul Skenes up against Tarik Skubal because we can’t have nice things. That means Andrew Heaney will take the mound in Game 1, and both Carpenter and Colt Keith will be on the bench. They should return for Game 2, but Jahmai Jones will DH in Game 1.

Soler has struggled all season, hitting just .207/.280/.350 with eight home runs, 26 RBI, and a 30 percent strikeout rate. This back injury might be an opportunity to place him on the injured list and give him a brief reset. Jo Adell will move to right field with Soler out of the lineup, and Scott Kingery will start in center field and bat seventh.
