There were three extra-base hits in the 2-0 game, and O’Hearn was responsible for two of them, though he did have a GIDP in between. He’s up to 10 homers, and he currently ranks eighth in the AL with his .893 OPS.

O’Neill will not do any baseball activities for a week. The outfielder will then likely restart his rehab assignment, and if things go well he could be back in the Baltimore lineup by the end of June. That will depend largely on how O’Neill reacts to the injection, however.

The issue isn’t believed to be major and the 31-year-old slugger is considered day-to-day. Dylan Carlson will step in the Orioles’ lineup to replace him and will bat eighth against Angels’ southpaw Tyler Anderson on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.

Cowser is dealing with a variety of injuries after crashing into the outfield wall on Thursday and has now missed each of the O’s next two ballgames. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but if he isn’t ready soon the Orioles’ hand may be forced here. Cedric Mullins will start in center field and bat eighth for the O’s against Tyler Anderson and the Angels on Saturday.

Helfand reports that the strain is on the “milder” side, but not so mild that it won’t require another stint on the injured list for Lewis. The 26-year-old could return by the end of June or start of July if there are no setbacks, but a more concrete timeline should be provided in the coming days.

The homer off Matthew Boyd, which produced the only run of the game for the hapless Pirates, was McCutchen’s 326th of his career, moving him past Willie Horton, Jermaine Dye and Justin Upton for 127th place all-time. Next up are Shawn Green and Mo Vaughn at 328.

That series begins next week, and it could be either Monday or Tuesday according to Boone. It’s remarkable progress for Stanton, as it seemed possible — maybe even probable — that the slugger was going to need surgery on both elbows and miss the 2025 campaign. The 35-year-old will have some rust to shake off even after the rehab assignment, but everyone knows what Stanton is capable of with his prestigious power.
