His job security in the ninth inning continues to grow despite his 3.38 ERA, cringe-inducing 2.13 WHIP and lackluster 3/6 K/BB ratio over his first eight innings on the season.

Happ helped to get the scoring started for the Cubs as he worked a leadoff walk to begin the first inning, swiped second base and scored on a ground out off the bat of Seiya Suzuki. He then played the role of hero in the 10th, smacking a David Bednar offering into right field to plate Vidal Brujan from third base with the game-winning run. The 30-year-old outfielder is now hitting .249/.340/.385 with seven long balls, 31 RBI and four stolen bases on the season.
