    Sean Manaea

    NYM • • #

Sean Manaea (oblique, elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

If all goes well there, he’ll be cleared to resume his minor league rehab assignment. The 33-year-old hurler was shut down last week after the discovery of a loose body in his left elbow. The Mets remain hopeful that he’ll be able to join their starting rotation around the All-Star break.

Jesse Winker (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at High-A Brooklyn on Sunday.

Winker has been shelved since the beginning of May due to a right oblique strain. He’s eligible to return from the injured list on July 4 and there’s a chance that if everything goes according to plan he could be ready at that time. It’s unclear who he would displace on the Mets’ current roster, but having too many quality options seems like a good problem for them to sort out.

Brooks Raley (elbow) will have his minor league rehab assignment moved to Double-A Binghampton on Saturday.

The 36-year-old left-hander made three appearances at Low-A St. Lucie over the past few weeks, allowing just three hits over three scoreless innings with a 6/0 K/BB ratio. The Mets are hoping that he’ll be ready to return coming out of the All-Star break, potentially providing a major boost to their bullpen for the second half of the season.

    Recap

Juan Soto went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk on Friday against the Pirates.

Soto’s home run represented the Mets’ lone run in a horrible, blowout loss against Pittsburgh in this one. While the Mets fell flat, Soto continued what’s been an incredible month. With two games left in June, he’s up to 11 home runs with a 1.259 OPS and 10 more walks than strikeouts. That’s inconceivably good and he’s returned to being one of the best hitters in baseball.
