It’s Trammell’s only hit in 15 at-bats since joining the Astros. He now had 16 career major league homers in 377 plate appearances since debuting with the Mariners in 2021. Unfortunately, those have come with a .163 average and a 36.8 percent strikeout rate.

He had the excuse of pitching in Coors Field in a poor first start this month, but Gordon was facing an ice-cold Guardians lineup tonight and struggled again. The loss leaves him 3-2 with a 4.76 ERA, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll start again before the break, which could lead to a demotion to Triple-A.

Meyers appears likely to avoid the injured list for now after exiting Sunday’s game against the Dodgers with right calf tightness. The 29-year-old center fielder is day-to-day for now. It’ll be rookie Kenedy Corona taking over in center field in his absence.

Loperfido’s .278/.354/.422 line in Triple-A was pretty uninspiring, but he did seem to be heating up just before the promotion Sunday, and now he’s 3-for-7 with a homer for the Jays after going deep just six times in 315 plate appearances for Buffalo. He’ll probably play regularly through the All-Star break, but he could be replaced by Daulton Varsho afterwards. The Jays also hope to have Anthony Santander back at some point.

It doesn’t come as a total surprise to see Duran on the bench against Rockies lefty Austin Gomber, especially given Ceddanne Rafaela’s remarkable turnaround at the plate in recent weeks. It’ll be lefty-masher Rob Refsnyder getting the nod in left field with Wilyer Abreu in the opposite corner and Roman Anthony at DH on Monday night at Fenway Park. Unheralded utility specialist Nate Eaton gets his third straight start in the leadoff spot with Marcelo Mayer on the bench for the third consecutive contest.

The 26-year-old is hitting .280/.382/.544 in 53 games at Triple-A this season with 12 home runs, 48 RBI, six steals, and a 63/28 K/BB ratio. With Tommy Pham’s name swirling in trade rumors, it’s possible that Suwinski gets another shot at the MLB level this summer.
