TJ Friedl went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, and three runs scored in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Friedl laced a 101.4 mph shot off of Austin Gomber 385 feet for his ninth home run of the season. The 29-year-old has proven himself to be a useful fantasy asset as the Reds’ lead-off hitter whenever he’s healthy, and his .276/.368/.406 slash line this season is continuing that.

Reds selected Hewitt-Trussville HS (AL) SS Steele Hall with the No.9 selection of the 2025 MLB Draft.

Hall made the decision to reclassify to the 2025 draft in November, and immediately became one of the best shortstop prospects in the class. He’ll turn 18 on July 24, but already puts up electric speed times with a chance to be an 80-grade runner when all is said and done. He’s a solid defender at short with a strong throwing arm, and he has a chance to hit for a solid average with a little bit of pop as well. This is a better “real life” prospect than a fantasy one, but a shortstop who can get on base and steal 30-plus bags obviously has some value as well.

Reds manager Terry Francona earned his 2,000th career win with a 4-2 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Francona is just the 13th manager in MLB history to earn 2,000 wins as a manager. He has the Reds over .500 and within three games of a playoff spot in his first season with the team. Congrats to Tito on the milestone.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports that the Diamondbacks are listening to offers on Randal Grichuk, Alek Thomas, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Jake McCarthy.

The Diamondbacks are not locked into the “seller” role, but unless something changes in the next few weeks, it would be smart of them to consider offers for players who are not likely to be part of their future. Grichuk seems to be the most likely to be dealt since he’s playing on a one-year contract with a mutual option for next season. Gurriel has $13 million guaranteed for 2026, which could make it harder for the Diamondbacks to find a trade partner for him, and they may be less inclined to trade Thomas, who used to be one of the top prospects in baseball and is under team control for a few more years.

He then raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Jose Herrera. With his two-hit attack, the 26-year-old is now hitting .238/.304/.333 with one RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 23 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks.

Mike Trout went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and drove in the Angels’ lone run in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Diamondbacks.

Trout gave the Halos an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single off of Merrill Kelly in the third inning. That would wind up being their only tally in the ballgame. The 33-year-old superstar outfielder finishes the first half hitting .238/.365/.471 with 17 homers, 41 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 299 plate appearances.
