Megill took over with a one-run lead to protect and retired Kyle Fulmer and Braxton Fulford to begin the inning without any issue. That’s when Arcia strolled to the dish and smacked an 0-1 knuckle curve over the wall in left center to tie the ballgame. Megill then returned for the 10th inning, where he allowed just the inherited runner to score on an RBI knock by Thairo Estrada. This snaps a four-game streak where Megill hadn’t allowed a run. On the season, the 31-year-old hurler has converted 18 of his first 20 save chances while posting a 2.73 ERA and a 35/14 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings.

The veteran threw 53 of his 82 pitches for strikes while walking three and striking out one. Even though he wasn’t sharp, he may have thrown enough pitches to convince the organization that he’s ready to return to an MLB mound. Given his success in Milwaukee, when he’s ready to pitch, he is going to take a spot in the rotation. That means one of Quinn Priester, Chad Patrick, or Jacob Misiorowski will need to head to the minors, unless the Brewers opt to go with a six-man rotation. As of right now, it would appear that Patrick would be the odd man out.

The 26-year-old backstop is having a solid season at the Triple-A level, slashing .277/.416/.465 with seven homers, 35 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a 51/49 K/BB ratio over 267 plate appearances. He has the ability to play second base and third base in addition to helping out behind the plate and could provide Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy with another versatile weapon to deploy on a nightly basis. No word yet on what the corresponding move would be.
