This was a big game for Castro after a cold few weeks. He helped push across his squad’s first inning run, scored after smoking a lead-off double in the fourth and then chipped in another single in the ninth. All three of those knocks were hit at least 101 mph as Castro has enjoyed one of his best offensive seasons to date with a .798 OPS to this point. Also, he’s now regularly hitting in the heart of their order and will have plenty of chances as a run producer moving forward.

Wallner was responsible for the only run of the game for Minnesota, as he took Cade Gibson deep in the seventh inning. He’s now gone deep eight times with 14 RBI, and it’s worth remembering that those numbers have come in just 47 games and 151 at-bats.

Festa’s stuff was good, as he generated 15 swings and misses on his pitches during his four frames. His command was not, as he gave up a two-run homer to Agustin Ramirez and he missed his spots several times throughout the contest. It’s still nice to see him missing bats, however, and he was better than this line indicates. He’ll take a 5.49 ERA into a scheduled start Wednesday against the Cubs.

It’s just a routine day off for the veteran, who hit .269 in 24 games in June with two home runs, 11 runs scored, and 10 RBI. He will be replaced at shortstop by Brooks Lee today as Lee continues to play every day by moving all around the infield.

Yorke has now homered in two straight games with hits in five straight and seven of his last eight. The 23-year-old hit .279/.347/.372 in June with one home run, 14 RBI, and two steals. The Pirates could move on from veterans like Tommy Pham and Adam Frazier at the deadline, which could finally open up some MLB at-bats for Yorke.
