This move is just procedural so that the Yankees can make room on the 40-man roster for LHP Jayvien Sandridge. Cabrera fractured his ankle in May and will remain out for a while.

For the first time all season, Grisham had a sub-.800 OPS at the conclusion of Wednesday’s game. He’s back over that mark now, though, having collected his first homer since May 30 and his second since May 12. He’s likely in store for less playing time now that the Yankees have Giancarlo Stanton back, but the team will still want his glove in center field rather frequently.

Rodón gave up three homers, but he allowed just one other hit, walked one and struck out seven in his seventh quality start and ninth win of the year. He’ll make his next start in Cincinnati, which could lead to more homers. There’s no sitting him down in mixed leagues, though.

With Luke Weaver perhaps returning Friday, things might get complicated for the Yankees in the ninth in the coming days. Manager Aaron Boone refused to commit to a closer before the game today. We’re guessing he mostly sticks with Williams, who has a 1.72 ERA and a 23/2 K/BB in 15 2/3 innings since May 7. In spite of his early struggles, Williams is 9-for-10 in save chances this season.

Smith will not start for a third consecutive game because of his hamstring tightness. The good news is Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that Smith will be available off the bench. Assuming no setbacks, there’s a very good chance that Smith will be back in the Texas starting nine by the end of the weekend.

The 23-year-old has now homered in back-to-back games and has 10 homers on the season to go along with a .276/.393/.470 slash line and 55 RBIs in 69 games. He’s the 44th-ranked prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, but there is no place for him in Los Angeles right now. Perhaps he’s used as a trade chip at the deadline to help the Dodgers’ injured rotation. If not, we likely won’t see him until 2026, unless there’s an injury.

Burns continues to look like the best pitching prospect in baseball. The hard-throwing 22-year-old has allowed just three runs with a 14/4 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (two starts) since arriving on the doorstep of the majors. He’s blazed through three levels in Cincinnati’s system this year, compiling a surreal 1.77 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 89/13 K/BB ratio over 66 innings (13 starts). He could wind up arriving in the big leagues at some point in the second half, especially if he keeps dominating at the Triple-A level.
