Neto returns to Los Angeles’ lineup for the first time in four contests after dealing with a lingering right shoulder issue after jamming it during last Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox. The 24-year-old shortstop was able to come off the bench in each of the last three contests, but he’s finally back on interim manager Ray Montgomery’s lineup card.

The Angels scored a run on an RBI double by Jo Adell in the top half of the eighth inning to take a 1-0 lead then Soler followed with a two-run double that seemingly put the game out of reach at that stage. A fun night for Soler to victimize his former ballclub in his first game back off the injured list. On the season, the 33-year-old slugger is slashing an underwhelming .209/.287/.356 with eight long balls and 28 RBI.

That timetable doesn’t leave much time at all for Mateo to make it back this season. There’s a chance he’s ready to return in late August, but that would be a best-case scenario without any setbacks. The versatile 30-year-old suffered the injury last weekend while playing in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk.

It’s a positive sign that Tovar is making some progress in his recovery from a left oblique strain that put him on the shelf back in early June. There’s a decent chance he’s back in Colorado’s lineup in the early stages of the second half.
