RecapVictor Wembanyama finished Wednesday’s win over the Mavericks with 52 points (16-of-28 FGs, 19-of-23 FTs), 24 rebounds, two assists, two steals, eight blocks and one three-pointer.
The Mavericks aren’t the first team to have no answer for Wembanyama, and they certainly won’t be the last. He was dominant throughout, becoming the second player in league history to finish a game with at least 50 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks since the NBA began recording blocks as an official stat. The other player: Bob McAdoo in 1974. Wembanyama’s 52 points are a new career high, and he shot 1-of-8 from beyond the arc. Just an incredible showing from one of the NBA’s elite talents. Wembanyama appeared to tweak his right ankle in the fourth quarter, but he did not receive medical attention while on the bench and returned for crunch time.
