Waller agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million for 2025. After retiring from the NFL last summer to pursue a music career, Waller — a former Pro Bowl tight end — is back. His signing comes one day after Miami traded TE Jonnu Smith to the Steelers, leaving the team with precious little at the tight end spot. Entering his age-33 season, Waller has battled various soft tissue injuries throughout his NFL career. At his best, he’s a seam-busting tight end too big for cornerbacks and too fast for linebackers. Waller is five years removed from his career year of 2020, when he caught 107 passes for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns for the Raiders. Waller had 52 receptions on 70 targets over 12 games with the Giants in 2023, his most recent NFL season. Barring a miraculous return to form, Waller should be the No. 3 target in the Dolphins offense, behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
