Brashard Smith

ESPN’s Adam Teicher believes the Chiefs “have plans” for RB Brashard Smith.

The Chiefs showcased Smith’s versatility by “getting him the ball out of the backfield, from the slot and split out wide” in early offseason activities. The Chiefs don’t currently have a better answer for “who will catch the ball out of the backfield?” on their roster with Samaje Perine off the roster. Current third-stringer Elijah Mitchell has just 28 catches in three seasons, while Kareem Hunt has slowed down since his days as Cleveland’s best third-down back. It’s certainly possible that Smith carves out a role in the backfield sooner rather than later.
