Per Field Yates, the move clears up $9.5 million in cap space. It’s safe to assume it’s a simple restructure, converting some of his base salary into a signing bonus. The move gives Seattle some more flexibility at the beginning of the season and puts some extra money in Metcalf’s bank account today.
