Browns GM Andrew Berry said Deshaun Watson is “in a pretty good spot” with his recovery from shoulder surgery.

Berry said Watson has been throwing passes up to 40 yards and is “progressing as appropriate.” The team isn’t ready to guarantee Watson will be ready to go come Week 1 — despite him asserting he would be ready at that time — but every offseason report concerning his shoulder has been positive thus far. Berry’s comments echo what head coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier in the week regarding Watson’s shoulder, as both have expressed confidence in the plan the team has in place to get him on the field in time for the start of the season.
