Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones

NYGQB • #8

Daniel Jones completed 29-of-40 passes for 281 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Giants’ 20-15, Week 4 loss to the Cowboys.

Even for him, Jones was checking down with cautious abandon. It was probably for the best, as Jones’ deep ball continued to look anemic post-ACL surgery. Per NFL Network’s Gregg Rosenthal, Jones is now 2-of-14 with a pick on attempts of 20-plus yards this season. Jones has never been a prolific deep ball thrower, but he used to at least be fairly accurate. Elsewhere, Jones targeted Wan’Dale Robinson short of the sticks on so many different third downs that it became genuinely difficult to keep track of how many times he had done so. The zero-score night means he remains stuck on four heading into Week 5 against the Seahawks. The concern there is that No. 1 receiver Malik Nabers won’t yet be cleared from the concussion he suffered late in the proceedings Thursday. Jones wasn’t the culprit on Nabers’ injury, but he did lead his wideout into a number of huge hits earlier in the contest.
