Drake Maye

Drake Maye

NEPQB • #10

Drake Maye completed 4-of-8 passes for 22 yards in the Patriots’ 24-3, Week 3 loss to the Jets, adding two carries for 12 yards.

With Jacoby Brissett getting battered behind the Patriots’ woeful offensive line and failing to improve his own situation because of his lack of mobility, Maye got a looksee for the final four and a half minutes. He nearly threw a wretched pick on his very first snap, and took a mammoth hit a few plays later. You could say he got welcomed to the NFL. Maye also showed what the Pats’ offense is currently missing — any athleticism whatsoever behind their awful line. We doubt Maye is getting the call for Week 4 in San Francisco, but the countdown clock is very much going, perhaps for Week 5 at home against Skylar Thompson and the Dolphins.
