Eagles agreed to terms with CB C.J. Gardner-Johnson, formerly of the Lions, on a three-year contract.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the deal is worth “up to” $33 million. It’s a badly-needed addition after the Eagles’ defense, particularly the back-end, fell apart down the stretch last season. CJGJ, of course, spent 2022 in Philadelphia and picked off a league-leading six passes. There has always been an element of hot and cold to Gardner-Johnson’s game — he’s not guaranteed to be a part of the solution — but he is a play-maker. It’s a worthy gamble for a team that needs to make a few.
